Dear Creem: I have been trying to write the Lighthouse article for two weeks now, but everytime I write it they plan something new that just has to be included, like the three weeks that they played with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in June, or the appearance before the queen in July.

We’re a year old this month and a year older. The alternative culture is a year older too, a year further out of adolescence or a year deeper into it. “SRC music Is like between easy rock & roll and scary"
Debbie Burr
The Scott Richard Case rose to local prominence when their single of “I’m So Glad” became a hit. The fact that it was a hit at the end of July, 1967 (when Detroit was burnin’ down at the hands of half its population) may have something to do with why they haven’t had one since.
The Michigan Bands
MC5 Very simply, the Five are the most important band to come out of Detroit. There’s really no way to explain how important this band has been to Detroit. They set the pace for our rock and roll explosion, they formed the model of the people’s band, they made high energy the byword of our music.

They have been “busted” on totally bogus charges 3 times, they’ve been beaten up and otherwise abused by local and state narcotics pigs, and their name has been slandered in an attempt by the various suburban power structures to wipe out rock and roll and tis related pleasures, dope and fucking.

SEIZE THE TIME by ELAINE BROWN VAULT 131 There’s a characteristic of the music industry that nobody ever talks about-I guess it just ain’t hip to mention itI call it the ‘pop star effect.” So far every rock and roll band that has “made it” in the biz has fallen prey to the pop star effect to some degree or other, and it’s just impossible to listen to or read about music nowadays without taking it inot account.

In their first dealing with the city of Detroit, under the heavy hand of newly-elected Mayor Roman S.
