Moratorium: The Tube Blows An Easy One

Television again proved its incompetence with its nonexistent coverage of the November 15th Vietnam War Moratorium.

November 2, 1969

Television again proved its incompetence with its nonexistent coverage of the November 15th Vietnam War Moratorium. The entire live coverage of the largest political assemblage ever held in the United, States was worth five minutes of live air time and a few scattered moments on news broadcasts.

Solely on a musical entertainment level the show was worth the hour and a lialf networks devote to schlock melodramas every afternoon. The usual Saturday fare, football and cartoons, simply wouldn’t have been able to compete against Arlo Guthrie, Peter Paul & Mary, Pete Seeger, Dick Gregory, Leonard Bernstein, Earl Scruggs, Richie Havens, Tom Paxton and the cast of Hair.
