Robert Plant

July 1, 1975

An intrepid crew of CREEMsters traveled deep into the wilds of the Appalachian mountain range to bring in the story of hillbilly Robert Plant and his new car. "Actually, it's not a car," explains Plant, who was named for the lush vegetation surrounding his family's mountaintop homestead. "It's really a pick-up truck." And a darn good one at that, Bobby. This '48 Chevy pick-up sports a three-speed transmission, a six cylinder engine, and to top it off, the thing works! "Only problem is... I done run out of gas," complains Robert. Not an insoluble problem, of course. And when fully-gassed, what does the colorful shaggy-haired hillbilly use his truck for? "I use it to carry around my license plates!" Quick, get this boy to a rock 'n' roll band!
